Quality coaxial cable is an important component in a high performance broadband network. Considering the complexity of replacing existing coax in a structure, using the highest quality coaxial cable available is an obvious choice.
Selecting a coaxial cable size is primarily an issue of attenuation and functionality. Today’s demanding broadband networks typically use RG6 coax for end-of-network runs where cable flexibility is required and RG11 coax for longer backbone cable runs. RG11 coaxial cable offers lower attenuation than RG6, but is not recommended for runs where cable flexibility is required at the end of the network because of bend radius issues with this rigid cable.
